The Oxford Libraries Catalogues (SOLO) is available at: http://solo.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/primo-explore/search?vid=SOLO&lang=en_US&sortby=rank
If you know the details of the resource, such as a book, that you are looking for, then the easiest way to search SOLO is to enter key words from the resource's title and/or author names and click the magnifying-glass search symbol. You can also enter details such as editor, publisher or publication date if you know them.
If you do not have a specific resource but want to search generally then use keywords for the topic of your research e.g. animal testing ethics or witches England history.
Searching Tip: You can use the symbol * at the end of a word to find alternative word endings e.g. child* finds child, children, childish, childishly etc.
The independent study sessions in the Bodleian Social Science Library will use resources from a variety of departmental and faculty libraries. This is why we need you to book a session in advance and will then be asked to provide details of the resources you would like to use in the session. We cannot guarantee that printed resources you request in advance of coming to a session will be provided, but we will do our best to get them and will let you know if we have trouble sourcing most of the resources you have requested.
To search for potential resources to use, limit your search in the SOLO online library catalogue to 'All Bodleian Libraries' using the drop down menu next to search box.
On the left hand side of the screen you can use 'Sort by' to order your search returns to show the newest or oldest results first.
Use can the filters to narrow down your search. You can limit your results by: Library, Resource Type, Creator, Publication Date, Topic, Language or Collection.
Expand the list by clicking on the red arrows. Navigate up and down the filters by using the side bar to the right of the list.
