Purpose of this guide

This guide is intended for students and researchers studying the law and legal systems and traditions of Russia, the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Georgia at the University of Oxford, although students and researchers from any field may find it useful.

Use this guide to find out about sources and commentary for the jurisdictions of the Russian Federation, the CIS nations and Georgia, including ebooks, ejournals, and databases.

The Law Bod has collections for these individual jurisdictions on Floor 1. (Also for the former USSR)

The LawBod shelves surveys of law (works looking at how a legal problem/legal topic is dealt with by various jurisdictions/legal systems) and comparative studies in the collection with the shelfmark General 510. This is on Floor 2. They can be of particular use for the linguistically challenged (most are in English), and can be used as introductions as to how a foreign jurisdiction approaches specific legal issues.
