Books on USA IP Law

Current monographs about USA law are in the K shelf mark collection on Level 2.

If browsing, look out for a U4 on the third line of the shelf mark - this indicates that the work is commentating on the US legal situation, something not always obvious from the title.

USA IP Law Quick Start

In the USA, intellectual property law is governed by both federal and state legislation, as well as being subject to international conventions implemented by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). A federal agency called the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is in charge of granting U.S. patents and registering trademarks. They advise the President, the Secretary of Commerce and other government agencies on matters of policy and enforcement, and work towards promoting IP protection on an international level.

Holders of an Oxford SSO are advised to start research on US IP law with the materials (primary and secondary) available via our subscription to Westlaw US.(This includes the Restatement  volume  Intellectual Property: Principles Governing Jurisdiction, Choice of Law & Judgments in Transnational Disputes) Please use link below.
