Case law of European countries : Netherlands

Dutch law reports in the LawBod

The law reports in the Netherlands section start at the shelf mark Netherlands 100. The main place to look is the Nederlandse jurisprudentie. Please see below:

Dutch cases: online sources

The doctrine of stare decisis does not apply in the Netherlands, but this is not the same as saying that jurisprudentie (case law) is entirely without normative force. The Netherlands court decisions are accessible both online and, in the case of the higher courts at least, in print in the LawBod (see box opposite - 'print materials').

From 2013, the former neutral case identifier LJN (Landelijk JurisprudentieNummer) has been replaced by an ECLI (European case law identifier)
Thus a citation for a recent Dutch supreme court could include  ECLI:NL:HR:2015:185  NL indicating Netherlands, HR Hoge Raad.
