There is a certain level of standardisation of intellectual property laws across the EU. This is covered by many international conventions, most of which are implemented by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Regulation No 2015/2424 amended the Community trade mark regulation on 23 March 2016: OHIM became the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), and the Community trade mark became the European Union trade mark.
