This guide is intended for students and researchers studying Geography and Environment at the University of Oxford, although students and researchers from any field may find it useful.

Single Sign On (SSO) - This allows you to access most e-resources as if you were on campus.

Key Resources

These are some of the main databases for Geography and the Environment. Details of further library resources can be found using the tabs at the top of this webpage.

SCOPUS - SCOPUS is a multi-subject database that provides access to journal articles and other academic resources for topics including development studies, the earth sciences, ecology, geomechanics, human geography, and oceanography.

Web of Science - contains the Social Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index and Arts and Humanities Citation Index and will search academic journals covering a range of topics within human and physical geography.

Proquest - Proquest is a different collection of academic and some other types of resource that covers a range of social science topics including environmental sciences, acquatic and water resources alongside economics and politics.

Digimap - Digimap provides access to online maps and spatial data of Great Britain including current Ordnance Survey maps, Geology Digimap and Digimap Historic for older maps.

Geography collection move

As part of the RSL redevelopment project, geography books have moved permanently from the RSL to the Bodleian Social Science Library. The move commenced in mid-July 2019 and involved approximately 11,000 items. The move is now complete and all items have been interfiled in the SSL’s open shelf collections

Geography UG and MSc dissertations have also moved to the SSL.
