Law reform in the UK

Environmental law is an area of the law that is developing quickly, and which has been the subject of proposals to change, update and rationalise it.  The purpose of law reform is to ensure that the law is as fair, modern, simple and as cost-effective as possible, reducing the number of separate statutes by codifying the law, eliminating anomalies, and repealing obsolete and unnecessary enactments.  The four UK law commissions are:
