The online point of care tool BMJ Best Practice gives health care professionals fast and easy access to the latest information when making diagnosis and treatment decisions. Updated daily, it draws on the latest evidence-based research, guidelines and expert opinion to offer step-by-step guidance on diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prevention. BMJ Best Practice is available online in a web browser and as a mobile app.
To log in via OpenAthens:
1. Go to bestpractice.bmj.com and click ‘Log In’ on the top right of the page.
2. Select the ‘OpenAthens’ button and sign in with your OpenAthens account credentials. You will then be taken back to BMJ Best Practice.
3. Once you have logged in to BMJ Best Practice, you can create a free personal account. Your personal account details will enable you to download and log-in to the app.
Both the BNF and BNF for Children apps are available to download for free for anyone with an NHS OpenAthens account. The apps are available for Android and iPhone devices. See full details on the NICE website.

You can access UpToDate via your NHS OpenAthens account but can also register for UpToDate Anywhere and use the UpToDate app.
To sign up, please go to the OUH intranet home page (http://ouh.oxnet.nhs.uk) and click on UpToDate from the link on the bottom right-hand side of the page in the “Clinical Resources” section. Then click on the “Login/Register” tab in the upper right-hand corner of the UpToDate page. If you already have an account with UpToDate, then log in using your existing credentials. To create a new account, please register as a new user and create your username and password.
UpToDate Anywhere Mobile Apps: You are now able to download any of the mobile apps on up to two devices: Go to your respective App Store on your device and download the free UpToDate Mobile App. Once it has downloaded, please use the UpToDate user name and password you created during the registration process to log in. You will need to revalidate your account every 90 days by going to UpToDate via the OUH intranet (http://ouh.oxnet.nhs.uk) and logging into your account.
