St Hugh's College Library: Overdue items

Subjects: College Libraries

Overdue items

St Hugh's College Library does not fine you for returning your books late.  However, if an item becomes very overdue, it will be assumed lost and you will be charged the standard item replacement fee (currently £35) for each item not returned. This allows the library to purchase a replacement copy of the item.

The library catalogue is set up to email you at intervals with the following reminders for books you have on loan: Courtesy Notice, First Overdue Notice, Second Overdue Notice, Final Overdue Notice.

If you allow the system to reach the Final Overdue Notice point, you will have 24 hours from the time of the Final Overdue Notice to return your items or contact the library.  Any borrower who has not returned their books or contacted the library within this period will then be charged the standard item replacement fee (currently £35) for each item not returned.

Thank you for taking responsibility for your library account.  Keeping your items in date and returning them promptly when you have finished using them is much appreciated by the Library staff.   If you need any help with managing your library account, please come and talk to a member of library staff.
