Printed images in Bodleian collections: Montagu

A guide describing some of the notable collections of picture prints and illustrations in Bodleian Library collections, with information about catalogue resources.

About the Collection

The Montagu collection comprises both topographical views and portraits from 17th-19th centuries. The topographical collection is arranged in two volumes, entitled 'Montagu Views'. The portraits, also in two volumes, form part of the Bodleian's autograph collection, as the autographs from the Montagu estate are accompanied mostly by headshots and portraits.

Access Information

The portraits are accessible via the Rare Boooks list of Montagu Portrait Prints. For more information on how to access the Montagu topographical prints and views, ask a member of the Library staff in the reading rooms who will be able to assist you further.
