Search SOLO directly from this box.
Tip: Limit your SOLO search to items in the Alexander Library, by changing the drop-down option 'All libraries / collections' to 'Alexander Library'
A number of recent theses and dissertations prepared at Oxford are available to download from the Oxford Research Archive (ORA). The British Library provides access to UK theses through it's EThOS service. Already digitised UK theses can be downloaded freely as PDF files. Requests can be made to digitise older theses, but there is a cost of around £40 and waiting time of 30 days for digitisation. The British Library no longer provides theses on microfilm.
Search for Oxford DPhil theses on SOLO by entering "thesis oxford" plus any keywords.
The majority of theses produced by the Edward Grey Institute are deposited in the Alexander Library. In addition the Library holds theses from many other institutions relevant to ornithology. To limit a SOLO search to the Alexander Library, change the drop-down option 'All libraries / collections' to 'Alexander Library'.
Please ask Library staff if you would like to consult a thesis.
Oxford theses not held in the Alexander Library may be available in the Radcliffe Science Library (RSL). Some theses produced by the Departments of Plant Sciences and Zoology are located on Level 2 at the RSL. Please ask staff at the desk for their exact location. All theses are for reference only.
Science DPhil theses held offsite can be requested (using Automated Stack Request) for consultation in the RSL.
More recent theses will also be available online via the Oxford Research Archive (ORA).
