Your Symplectic Elements at Oxford (SE) record can now be linked to your ORCiD record. This will enable SE to retrieve publication IDs from your ORCiD profile, use these IDs to find those publications in CrossRef, PubMed and Scopus, and claim those records for you automatically.
More importantly, future versions of SE will use your ORCiD to directly identify publications in a wide range of data sources and claim those records for you automatically.
Ensure that you have registered for an 'ORCiD at Oxford' and have your login details to hand as you will need them to log in to ORCiD as part of the process.
Log in to your Symplectic account at https://oxris.ox.ac.uk/. You will be taken to the Home tab.
In the My Data Sources box you will see ORCiD listed as one of the available data sources.
Click ‘Configure’. (If you see ‘Cancel’ it means you are already linked and there is no further action to take.)
When asked to log in to ORCiD, enter your details and click the blue ‘Sign into ORCiD’ button. If you are already logged in, you will be taken to the next step.
You will be asked by the ORCiD system to authorise access for Symplectic. Click the blue ‘Authorise’ button.
You will be taken back to the Symplectic Home tab, and a confirmation message – ‘ORCiD connection established’ – will appear.
You have now successfully linked your Symplectic account to your ORCiD account.
An illustrated user guide Link Symplectic Elements to your ORCiD is available at the 'Help' section of the Symplectic Elements at Oxford webpages Help > Guides for researchers (SSO login required).
